Xiaomi system apps

Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO phones run HyperOS (MIUI on older models), which adds Xiaomi's own apps for security scanning, cloud backup, themes and system services on top of Google's set. Settings lets you remove some of them and hides the switch for many others. This hub lists the Xiaomi packages documented here with what each one does and whether it is safe to turn off.

How to disable an app on a Xiaomi phone

Settings > Apps > Manage apps > (app) > Disable or Uninstall, where the button is offered

ADB notes

Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO phones offer Disable for fewer system apps than other brands, so ADB does more of the work here. On some HyperOS and MIUI builds the shell is refused permission to disable a system app; in that case the command that works is the per-user uninstall, which you can undo with the restore command on each package page.

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
