Xiaomi's background updater for its own system apps, separate from the firmware updates delivered through Settings. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.
What it does
System apps updater checks Xiaomi's servers for newer versions of the system apps that ship with MIUI and HyperOS and installs them between full system updates. It is not the firmware updater: major and security updates still arrive through Settings > About phone. It runs in the background on a schedule.
If you disable it
Xiaomi's preinstalled apps stop updating between firmware releases. Full system and security updates are not affected.
How to disable it
On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.
Disable it (reversible)
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.xiaomi.discoverTurn it back on
adb shell pm enable com.xiaomi.discoverThe stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.
Uninstall for the main user
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.xiaomi.discoverRestore after an uninstall
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.xiaomi.discoverNew to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
Data and battery
It sends your installed system app versions and device model to Xiaomi to find updates.
