Quick Apps

Xiaomi's Quick Apps platform for instant mini-apps, flagged by Google Play Protect in 2019 over tracking concerns. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.

What it does

Quick Apps runs lightweight mini-apps and games that open without a normal install, and it supplies content to some Xiaomi feeds and promotions. In 2019 Google Play Protect blocked an update to it and warned that it could collect data used to track you; Xiaomi said the app was safe. It wakes in the background when Xiaomi services call it.

If you disable it

Instant mini-apps and some promoted content in Xiaomi apps stop opening. Regular installed apps are not affected.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.miui.hybrid

adb shell pm enable com.miui.hybrid

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.miui.hybrid

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.miui.hybrid

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery

Press reports in 2019 described it as holding more than 55 permissions, including phone identifiers; Xiaomi has not published a privacy note for it.
