Xiaomi's cloud backup service, which saves home screen layout, settings and app data to Xiaomi Cloud on a schedule. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.
What it does
Cloud backup saves a copy of the phone's settings, home screen layout and supported app data to Xiaomi Cloud, so a new or reset Xiaomi phone can restore it. Xiaomi documents offering that restore on the setup screen of a new phone, with app icons put back where they were. It runs in the background when a backup or restore is due.
If you disable it
Backups to Xiaomi Cloud stop, and you cannot restore a Xiaomi Cloud backup on this phone until you enable it again. Google backup is separate and keeps working.
How to disable it
On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.
Disable it (reversible)
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.miui.cloudbackupTurn it back on
adb shell pm enable com.miui.cloudbackupThe stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.
Uninstall for the main user
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.miui.cloudbackupRestore after an uninstall
