Xiaomi's service framework, which keeps the Mi Push connection that delivers notifications for Xiaomi apps and services. Keep it: Xiaomi service framework is needed for the phone, its updates or its security.

What it does

Xiaomi service framework is the shared service layer that Xiaomi's apps call for messaging and account functions. Its best-known job is Mi Push, the long-lived connection Xiaomi keeps between its servers and the phone so notifications for Xiaomi apps, and for other apps that use Mi Push, arrive in real time. It runs constantly in the background.

Also shown as XMSF, Mi Push.

If you disable it

Notifications that come through Mi Push stop, and community reports describe Xiaomi Cloud and Xiaomi Account features failing and even problems with alarms.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.xiaomi.xmsf

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.xiaomi.xmsf

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.xiaomi.xmsf

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.xiaomi.xmsf

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery

Xiaomi says Mi Push hashes the device identifier, serial number and Android ID on the phone and uses a random ID instead, plus the country code.

Where it appears
