Earphones

Xiaomi's sound settings component, behind the equalizer, headphone tuning and per-app volume controls. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.

What it does

Earphones, also called MiSound, supplies parts of the sound section in Xiaomi's settings, including the equalizer, headphone type tuning and the per-app volume mixer. Community testers note it holds no sensitive permissions and stays idle unless sound settings are in use. It runs when you adjust sound settings and while effects are applied.

If you disable it

The equalizer, headphone tuning and per-app volume controls disappear from sound settings. Normal volume and audio playback keep working.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.miui.misound

adb shell pm enable com.miui.misound

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.miui.misound

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.miui.misound
