Xiaomi's Notes app for text notes, checklists and voice notes, which can sync to Xiaomi Cloud. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.

What it does

Notes is Xiaomi's preinstalled note-taking app for text, checklists, pictures and audio notes, with a hidden private folder behind a password. If you sign in to a Mi Account and turn on sync, Xiaomi Cloud backs your notes up and keeps them in step across Xiaomi devices. It runs when you open it and when sync is on.

If you disable it

Notes you saved in it become unreachable until you enable it again, and Notes sync to Xiaomi Cloud stops. Export or move anything you need before disabling it.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.miui.notes

adb shell pm enable com.miui.notes

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.miui.notes

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.miui.notes

Stores your notes on the phone and, with sync on, in Xiaomi Cloud, which Xiaomi says encrypts them in transit and at rest.
