Xiaomi's Security app, the hub for app scans, cleanup, app lock, permissions, battery screens and Game Turbo on MIUI and HyperOS. Do not remove it: disabling or uninstalling it can leave the phone unusable.

What it does

Security is the control center Xiaomi builds into every MIUI and HyperOS phone. It scans newly installed apps, clears junk files, manages autostart and app permissions, locks apps behind a PIN, blocks calls and hosts Game Turbo, and Settings links into it for battery and data usage pages. Xiaomi's own privacy documentation calls the Security Center a critical system app and forces its autostart on, because other security checks depend on it. It starts at boot and stays running.

Also shown as Security Center, Security app.

If you disable it

Removing it has caused boot loops on many MIUI builds. On builds that still start, the battery usage page, app management screens, app lock, call blocking and Game Turbo stop working, and links from Settings into them fail.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.miui.securitycenter

Restore it after a per-user uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.miui.securitycenter

Data and battery

It checks installed apps with the antivirus engines built into it and reads storage to find junk files; Xiaomi's security white paper describes these scans.

Runs from boot by design, and Xiaomi does not let you turn off its autostart.
