Xiaomi's Quick ball, a floating on-screen button that opens five shortcuts such as home, back and screenshot. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.

What it does

Quick ball is a small floating button you can turn on in Xiaomi's settings. Tapping it fans out five shortcuts you pick, such as home, back, recent apps, lock screen or screenshot, which helps with one-handed use. It stays on screen and runs only while it is turned on.

Also shown as Touch Assistant.

If you disable it

The Quick ball option disappears. Nothing else depends on it.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.miui.touchassistant

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.miui.touchassistant

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.miui.touchassistant

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.miui.touchassistant

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery
