Xiaomi's power manager behind battery saver, app background limits and performance modes on MIUI and HyperOS. Keep it: Battery and performance is needed for the phone, its updates or its security.

What it does

Battery and performance is the power management service on Xiaomi phones. It runs the battery saver modes, decides which apps may keep running in the background and enforces per-app battery restrictions, which is why some apps stop syncing on Xiaomi phones until you exempt them. It starts at boot and runs constantly.

If you disable it

Battery saver and per-app battery settings stop working and battery life may get worse. Community reports describe a boot loop on the Redmi Pad after removal.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.miui.powerkeeper

adb shell pm enable com.miui.powerkeeper

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.miui.powerkeeper

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.miui.powerkeeper

Data and battery

Reads battery statistics and which apps are running to apply its limits; no public Xiaomi document covers this package.

If an app keeps getting closed in the background, set that app's battery saver to No restrictions instead of disabling this package.
