Music

Mi Music, Xiaomi's music player for songs stored on the phone, with online streaming and recommendations in some regions. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.

What it does

Music, published on Google Play as Mi Music, is Xiaomi's preinstalled audio player. It plays the music files stored on the phone and, in some regions, streams songs and playlists with recommendations and ads. It runs when you play music and keeps a media notification while playing.

Also shown as Mi Music.

If you disable it

The Music app disappears. Songs stored on the phone are not deleted and play in any other music app.

How to disable it

Settings offers Disable for this package on most phones. Open Settings > Apps > Manage apps > Music > Disable or Uninstall, where the button is offered.

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.miui.player

adb shell pm enable com.miui.player

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.miui.player

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.miui.player

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
