The Xiaomi service that takes screenshots, including the three-finger swipe, partial and scrolling captures. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.

What it does

Screenshot is the MIUI and HyperOS component that captures the screen when you press the button combination, swipe down with three fingers or use the shortcut. It also provides the preview thumbnail, scrolling screenshots, partial captures and the quick editor. It runs only when a screenshot is taken.

If you disable it

Screenshots stop working, including the button combination and gestures. It does nothing in the background, so there is little reason to disable it.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.miui.screenshot

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.miui.screenshot

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.miui.screenshot

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.miui.screenshot

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
