The Xiaomi component behind per-app notification settings, which Settings needs to manage or re-enable app notifications. Keep it: Notifications is needed for the phone, its updates or its security.

What it does

Notifications provides the per-app notification pages in Xiaomi's Settings, where you allow or block an app's notifications and choose how they appear. Xiaomi documents notification control as part of its app permission settings. Community testers report notifications still arrive without it, but the settings pages break, and it is the only way to switch notifications back on for an app you silenced.

If you disable it

Notification settings pages in Settings stop working, so you cannot turn an app's notifications back on once they are off. Long-pressing a notification still offers some controls.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.miui.notification

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.miui.notification

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.miui.notification

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.miui.notification

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery

Community analyses report it keeps notification counts per app, such as how many each app sends a day.

Where it appears
