Xiaomi's device-to-device connection service for HyperOS interconnectivity and Xiaomi smart home devices. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.
What it does
Mi Connect is the background service HyperOS uses to discover and link nearby Xiaomi devices, such as tablets, laptops, TVs and smart home gear, for interconnectivity features. Community lists tie it to the Xiaomi Home app's device discovery. It runs in the background while those features are on.

If you disable it
Cross-device features with other Xiaomi devices and some smart home discovery may stop working. Normal Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are not affected.
How to disable it
On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.
Disable it (reversible)
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.xiaomi.mi_connect_serviceTurn it back on
adb shell pm enable com.xiaomi.mi_connect_serviceThe stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.
Uninstall for the main user
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.xiaomi.mi_connect_serviceRestore after an uninstall
