Xiaomi bloatware list for HyperOS and MIUI
Which Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO system apps you can remove, which carry a caveat, and why Find Device and the Security app must stay.
Xiaomi phones, including Redmi and POCO, carry more preinstalled software than most: Xiaomi's own apps, a system ad service, partner apps and a large security suite. Xiaomi lets you uninstall a number of them from Settings, locks others, and hides the Disable button on many. This list covers the global HyperOS and MIUI builds. Chinese builds use different package names.
How do I remove a Xiaomi app?
Start in Settings: open Settings > Apps > Manage apps, open the app, and tap Uninstall if it is offered. Xiaomi notes that most apps can be removed this way, while system parts tied to basic phone functions cannot. Many of Xiaomi's media and utility apps uninstall normally, and you can reinstall them from GetApps or the Play Store.
For apps with no Uninstall or Disable button, use ADB from a computer (see how to set up ADB). Disable first:
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.miui.videoplayerSome Xiaomi system apps refuse disable-user. For those, removing them for your user is the alternative, and install-existing brings them back:
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.miui.videoplayer
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.miui.videoplayerPlain USB debugging is enough for these commands. The extra "USB debugging (Security settings)" switch is not needed.
Which Xiaomi apps are safe to remove?
- com.miui.analytics: Xiaomi's usage analytics service.
- com.miui.videoplayer: Mi Video.
- com.miui.player: Mi Music.
- com.mi.globalbrowser: Mi Browser, once another browser is your default.
- com.xiaomi.glgm: Games, Xiaomi's game hub.
- com.miui.yellowpage: Yellow Pages, the business directory used for caller details.
- com.miui.android.fashiongallery: Wallpaper Carousel, the lock-screen image feed.
- com.miui.hybrid: Quick Apps, the mini-app runtime.
- com.miui.compass: Compass.
- com.miui.weather2: Weather, if you use another weather app. Its home screen widget goes with it.
- com.miui.miservice: Services & feedback.
- com.miui.msa.global: MSA, the system ad service that supplies ads and recommendations to Xiaomi apps. Ad slots in Xiaomi's apps go blank or disappear; the apps keep working. Turning off recommendations in each Xiaomi app's settings first keeps those screens tidy.
- com.miui.daemon: a background service that collects system statistics. Community testers report no lost features after disabling it.
- com.facebook.appmanager, com.facebook.services and com.facebook.system: Meta's preinstalled helpers, if you do not use Facebook apps.
Which Xiaomi apps are advanced?
- com.xiaomi.mipicks: GetApps, Xiaomi's store. Some Xiaomi apps update only through it.
- com.xiaomi.joyose: Joyose, which tunes performance and heat for games and some apps. Without it, games may run differently.
- com.miui.cloudservice and com.miui.cloudbackup: Xiaomi Cloud sync and backup. Your Xiaomi Cloud backups and synced notes, contacts and gallery stop.
- com.mi.android.globalFileexplorer: File Manager. Keep at least one file manager on the phone.
- com.xiaomi.account: Xiaomi account. Find Device, Xiaomi Cloud and theme purchases rely on it. If you are signed in with Find device on, sign out and turn Find device off first, or a reset can leave the phone locked to the account.
Which Xiaomi apps should I keep?
These hold HyperOS and MIUI together. Community reports link several of them to boot loops or locked phones when removed.
- com.miui.securitycenter: Security. It runs the permission system, app scanning, battery and data controls. Removing it is one of the most common causes of boot loops on Xiaomi phones.
- com.lbe.security.miui: the permission manager behind Security. Same risk.
- com.xiaomi.finddevice: Find Device. It ties the phone to your Xiaomi account so a lost or stolen phone can be locked. Do not remove it. If you want it off, turn off Find device in your Xiaomi account settings instead.
- com.miui.home: the system launcher. Keep it even if you use another launcher, because recent-apps and gesture navigation depend on it.
- com.miui.guardprovider: the security scanner that checks apps when they install.
- com.miui.powerkeeper: Battery and performance management.
- com.android.updater: System update, which downloads HyperOS updates and security patches.
- com.android.systemui, the phone app and the messaging stack, as on any Android phone.
Why are Find Device and Security special on Xiaomi?
Both are tied to protections that work below the app level. Find Device is linked to Xiaomi's account lock: a phone signed in to a Xiaomi account with Find Device on asks for that account after a reset. Tampering with the package can leave a phone that is hard to set up again. The Security app is not just a cleaner; it carries the permission prompts other apps depend on. If a debloat list tells you to remove either one, skip that line.
What happens after a HyperOS update?
Major updates often reinstall Xiaomi apps you removed and re-enable ones you disabled. Save your list before you start, and compare after each update:
adb shell pm list packages > after-update.txtThe Xiaomi hub lists every Xiaomi package we document, and the debloat checklist writes a script for only the lines you tick. For the general method, see how to remove bloatware.

Questions people ask
Why can't I uninstall some Xiaomi apps from Settings?
Xiaomi locks apps it treats as core functions, such as the phone, Find Device and the Security app. Some of these can be turned off with ADB; the ones marked Do not remove should be left alone.
Does removing Xiaomi apps stop the ads?
Partly. Most ads come from Xiaomi's own apps and the system ad service. Turning off recommendations in each app's settings and removing the apps you do not use removes most of them.
Is it safe to remove Joyose?
The phone keeps working, but Joyose manages performance and heat profiles for games, so we mark it Advanced. Some people see games run hotter or slower without it.
