Verizon's backup app for photos, videos, contacts and messages, tied to a Verizon Cloud storage plan. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.

What it does

Verizon Cloud backs up photos, videos, contacts, call logs and text messages from the phone to storage that Verizon sells by plan. Settings may list it simply as Cloud. When backup is on it uploads in the background, which is why it shows up in battery and data use. Verizon preloads it and lists it on Google Play.

Also shown as Verizon Cloud.

If you disable it

Automatic backups to Verizon Cloud stop. Files already uploaded stay in your Verizon Cloud account, where you can still reach them on the web.

How to disable it

Settings offers Disable for this package on most phones. Open Settings > Apps > Cloud > Disable or Uninstall; the exact wording follows the phone's maker.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.vcast.mediamanager

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.vcast.mediamanager

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.vcast.mediamanager

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.vcast.mediamanager

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery

Uploads the photos, videos, contacts and messages you choose to back up to Verizon's servers.

Uploads run in the background while backup is on; turning off automatic backup in the app stops that without disabling it.

Where it appears

  • Seen on: Motorola moto g (2025), Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (SM-S908U).
