T-Mobile Device Unlock is preinstalled on some older Android phones T-Mobile sold. When the line meets T-Mobile's unlock policy, you open the app, let it contact T-Mobile's server and choose Permanent Unlock, which removes the network lock so the phone accepts other carriers' SIM cards. Newer devices are unlocked remotely or from Settings instead.
Also shown as T-Mobile Device Unlock.
On a phone that is still locked and relies on this app, you cannot apply the unlock until you turn it back on. On a phone that is already permanently unlocked, nothing you will notice.
On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.
Disable it (reversible)
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.tmobile.simlockTurn it back on
adb shell pm enable com.tmobile.simlockThe stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.
Uninstall for the main user
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.tmobile.simlockRestore after an uninstall
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.tmobile.simlockNew to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
