Part of T-Mobile's remote SIM unlock system on newer phones; leave it in place until the phone is unlocked. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.

What it does

RsuSleService is a T-Mobile-signed background component seen on Motorola phones T-Mobile sells. It sits alongside T-Mobile's Unlock app (com.tmobile.rsuapp) and a system service called TMO-RSU-Sys-Service (com.tmobile.rsusrv); RSU appears to stand for remote SIM unlock, the system T-Mobile uses to lift the network lock over the air once a line is eligible. It has no screen.

If you disable it

On a phone that is still locked, the over-the-air unlock may not arrive or apply. Once the phone is permanently unlocked, we know of nothing else that depends on it.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.tmobile.rsuadapter.aidl

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.tmobile.rsuadapter.aidl

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.tmobile.rsuadapter.aidl

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.tmobile.rsuadapter.aidl

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery

Exchanges the phone's lock status and identifiers with T-Mobile's unlock service.
