A Sprint-era service that switched on carrier features such as Wi-Fi Calling on phones built for the Sprint network. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.

What it does

Carrier Hub, earlier called Sprint Hub, is a background app from Sprint, which merged into T-Mobile in 2020. On phones built for the Sprint network it enabled carrier features such as Wi-Fi Calling and handled carrier setup messages. Phones sold since the merger use T-Mobile's own components, but older Sprint and early post-merger devices may still carry it.

Also shown as Sprint Hub.

If you disable it

On a phone that still relies on it, Wi-Fi Calling and other carrier features can stop working. On phones that do not use it, nothing you will notice.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.sprint.ms.smf.services

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.sprint.ms.smf.services

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.sprint.ms.smf.services

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.sprint.ms.smf.services

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery

Exchanges line and feature activation details with the carrier.
