AppSelector
The T-Mobile setup tool, made by ironSource, that offers a list of apps to install after you set up the phone.
T-Mobile package
T-Mobile's background agent that checks which apps are installed and pushes app suggestions, updates and notices. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.
Device Manager, whose internal name is Adapt, is a T-Mobile agent preinstalled on phones T-Mobile sells, including Samsung and Motorola models. T-Mobile says its AppManager feature uses Adapt to see which apps are installed and to push app updates and notifications, and that the usage data involved is shared with Unity, the company behind AppSelector. It holds a long list of system permissions and runs in the background.
Also shown as Adapt.
AppManager suggestions and carrier-pushed app updates and notices stop. If T-Mobile support later asks to run a remote check, turn it back on first.
On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.
Disable it (reversible)
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.tmobile.pr.adaptTurn it back on
adb shell pm enable com.tmobile.pr.adaptThe stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.
Uninstall for the main user
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.tmobile.pr.adaptRestore after an uninstall
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.tmobile.pr.adaptNew to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
