Configuration update
A Samsung configuration package listed in Settings as Configuration update, with no public description.
Samsung package
Supplies Samsung's preset bookmarks and start-page settings to Google Chrome on Galaxy phones. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.
This package holds partner settings that Google Chrome reads when it first runs on a Galaxy phone, such as preset bookmarks or a home page chosen for the region or carrier. It has no screen and does nothing after Chrome has picked up those defaults. Device surveys show it on current Galaxy models.
Chrome may start without Samsung's preset bookmarks or home page. Chrome itself works normally.
On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.
Disable it (reversible)
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.sec.android.app.chromecustomizationsTurn it back on
adb shell pm enable com.sec.android.app.chromecustomizationsThe stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.
Uninstall for the main user
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.sec.android.app.chromecustomizationsRestore after an uninstall
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.sec.android.app.chromecustomizationsNew to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
Nothing; it only supplies preset values to Chrome.
