A hidden Samsung background agent with no documented purpose, found on almost every current Galaxy phone. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.

What it does

SVC Agent is a Samsung package without an icon or a public description. Community analysis of the app reports internet access and Samsung's diagnostic-monitoring library inside it, and it can run a background service for long stretches. Samsung's application lists include it from Android 10, and device surveys show it on current models. Samsung has not published what feature it serves.

If you disable it

No user-facing feature is known to depend on it.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.samsung.android.svcagent

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.samsung.android.svcagent

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.svcagent

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.samsung.android.svcagent

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
