Samsung Galaxy Friends

An accessory service on older Galaxy phones that unlocked themed content when a supported case or accessory was attached. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.

What it does

Galaxy Friends is a Samsung accessory platform. When a supported case or accessory from Samsung's partner program was attached, this agent recognized it and switched on matching content, such as themes or wallpapers, without a separate app. It runs only when such an accessory is detected. Device surveys find it on Galaxy phones up to about the S20 FE and A52s, not on current flagships.

If you disable it

Themed content tied to Galaxy Friends accessories no longer turns on. Cases and accessories still work physically.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.samsung.android.mateagent

adb shell pm enable com.samsung.android.mateagent

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.
