What it does

Samsung builds its own Digital Wellbeing into Galaxy phones in place of Google's. It shows screen time and weekly reports, sets app timers and screen-time goals, monitors headphone volume and driving screen time, and opens the parental controls settings. Samsung's support page says it cannot be removed or disabled from Settings. It runs in the background to count usage.

Also shown as Digital Wellbeing and parental controls.

If you disable it

Screen-time reports, app timers, the volume monitor and the parental controls entry stop. Some DeX users report an unstable taskbar without it.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.samsung.android.forest

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.samsung.android.forest

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.forest

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.samsung.android.forest

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery

Counts app usage and notifications on the phone; nothing is uploaded unless a parental control service is linked.
