Background scanner that spots nearby Samsung devices such as Galaxy Buds, watches and TVs so the phone can offer to connect. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.
This Samsung service listens over Bluetooth for nearby Samsung and SmartThings devices that are ready to pair or connect. When it finds one, the phone can show a pop-up card offering to connect it, and SmartThings can list it for setup. It works with the Nearby device scanning switch in the connection settings, and runs in the background while that switch is on. Samsung's Galaxy Store lists it as the Nearby device scanning agent.
Also shown as Nearby device scanning agent.
Pop-ups offering to connect nearby Galaxy Buds, watches or TVs stop, and SmartThings may take longer to find new devices. You can still pair everything from Bluetooth settings.
On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.
Disable it (reversible)
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.samsung.android.beaconmanagerTurn it back on
adb shell pm enable com.samsung.android.beaconmanagerThe stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.
Uninstall for the main user
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.beaconmanagerRestore after an uninstall
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.samsung.android.beaconmanagerNew to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
