Samsung's companion app for setting up and managing Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Buds from a phone. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.

What it does

Galaxy Wearable pairs and manages Samsung wearables. For a Galaxy Watch it handles setup, watch faces, apps, notifications and software updates, and for Galaxy Buds it offers sound and touch settings, although newer Buds connect through the phone's Bluetooth settings first. Samsung publishes it on the Play Store and Galaxy Store. It stays running in the background while a watch is connected.

If you disable it

Your Galaxy Watch disconnects from the phone, and Buds lose their advanced settings. If you own no Samsung wearable, nothing changes.

How to disable it

Settings offers Disable for this package on most phones. Open Settings > Apps > Galaxy Wearable > Disable.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.samsung.android.app.watchmanager

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.samsung.android.app.watchmanager

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.app.watchmanager

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.samsung.android.app.watchmanager

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery

Syncs notifications, health data and settings between the phone and the watch; some data goes through your Samsung account.
