Google package
A Google system service that classifies content on the device for safety features such as Sensitive Content Warnings. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.
Android System SafetyCore is a background service Google began pushing to phones running Android 9 and later in 2024. It gives apps a shared on-device classifier for spotting unwanted content, and its first user is Google Messages, whose optional Sensitive Content Warnings can blur incoming images flagged as sensitive. Google says it only runs when an app asks it to classify something, does the work on the device and does not send the content or the results to Google.
Also shown as SafetyCore.
Sensitive Content Warnings in Google Messages and any other app features built on SafetyCore stop working. Google recommends keeping it installed, but nothing else on the phone depends on it.
Settings offers Disable for this package on most phones. Open Settings > Apps > See all apps > Android System SafetyCore > Disable.
Disable it (reversible)
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.google.android.safetycoreTurn it back on
adb shell pm enable com.google.android.safetycoreThe stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.
Uninstall for the main user
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.google.android.safetycoreRestore after an uninstall
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.google.android.safetycoreNew to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
Classifies content on the device only when an app asks; Google states that the content and results are not sent to Google, and its releases are listed in a public transparency log.

Google installed it through a Google system update on Android 9 and later phones. It sits idle until an app such as Google Messages asks it to check content.
Google says it classifies only the content an app hands to it, on the device, and does not send the content or results to Google. It does not browse your photo library on its own.
