AT&T's account app for paying the bill, checking usage and managing your plan and devices. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.

What it does

The AT&T app, formerly called myAT&T, is the account app AT&T preloads on the phones it sells and lists on Google Play. It shows your bill, usage, plan and devices, and it is where you pay, upgrade, manage add-ons and set account protections. It refreshes account alerts in the background, which is why it can appear in battery and data lists.

Also shown as myAT&T, AT&T app.

If you disable it

The account app goes away. You can still manage everything at att.com, and calls, texts, data and voicemail keep working.

How to disable it

Settings offers Disable for this package on most phones. Open Settings > Apps > AT&T > Disable or Uninstall; the exact wording follows the phone's maker.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.att.myWireless

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.att.myWireless

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.att.myWireless

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.att.myWireless

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery

Signs in to your AT&T account and loads billing, usage and plan details for your lines.
