An older Verizon home-screen widget that showed account details, device information and tips. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.

What it does

My InfoZone is a home-screen widget Verizon added to some of its older Android phones. It showed a summary of your account and data use, details about the device and a rotating tip, and it linked into Verizon's account app. Current Verizon phones use the My Verizon app for the same information.

If you disable it

The widget can no longer be placed on the home screen. Nothing else depends on it.

How to disable it

Settings offers Disable for this package on most phones. Open Settings > Apps > My InfoZone > Disable or Uninstall; the exact wording follows the phone's maker.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.vzw.hss.widgets.infozone.large

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.vzw.hss.widgets.infozone.large

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.vzw.hss.widgets.infozone.large

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.vzw.hss.widgets.infozone.large

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery

Loads account and usage summaries from Verizon to show in the widget.
