The service that applies Verizon's network lock and remote unlock on some phones; keep it until the phone is unlocked. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.
VZWRemoteSimlockService is a background service on some phones built for Verizon, including Motorola models, where the phone maker signs it. Verizon unlocks eligible phones automatically and remotely, and this service is the on-phone side of that system: it holds the lock state and applies the unlock when Verizon sends it. It has no icon or screen.
On a phone that is still locked, Verizon's automatic remote unlock may not apply. Once the phone is unlocked, Verizon says it never relocks it, and we know of nothing else that depends on this service.
On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.
Disable it (reversible)
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.verizon.remoteSimlockTurn it back on
adb shell pm enable com.verizon.remoteSimlockThe stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.
Uninstall for the main user
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.verizon.remoteSimlockRestore after an uninstall
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.verizon.remoteSimlockNew to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
Exchanges the phone's lock status and identifiers with Verizon's unlock system.
