Samsung's IMS service, which carries voice calls, texts and video calls over 4G, 5G and Wi-Fi. Do not remove it: disabling or uninstalling it can leave the phone unusable.
IMS Service is Samsung's implementation of the IP Multimedia Subsystem, the carrier framework that runs voice over LTE and 5G, Wi-Fi Calling, video calling and often texting. Android expects each phone maker to supply one as a privileged system app, and Galaxy phones use this package for it. On networks that no longer offer 3G, it is how ordinary phone calls are made. It runs constantly while a SIM is active.
Voice calls over 4G, 5G and Wi-Fi fail, which on most current networks means no calls at all, and texting can stop as well.
On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.
