Samsung's video engine for carrier video calls, which community testers say Wi-Fi Calling also depends on. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.

What it does

SecVideoEngineService is a Samsung system service that handles the camera and video stream for carrier video calls over the IMS network. It has no screen and runs only during a call that needs it. Community testers report that removing it also breaks Wi-Fi Calling, which suggests the IMS stack expects it to be present.

If you disable it

Carrier video calls stop working, and Wi-Fi Calling has been reported to fail without it. Ordinary voice calls over the mobile network are not reported to be affected.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.sec.sve

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.sec.sve

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.sec.sve

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.sec.sve

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery

Processes camera and audio during carrier video calls; nothing is stored.
