Voice Recorder

Samsung's audio recording app with speech-to-text transcripts and recording modes for interviews. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.

What it does

Voice Recorder records audio in standard, interview and speech-to-text modes, can show a transcript and, on Galaxy AI phones, summaries of recordings. Samsung publishes it on the Play Store and Galaxy Store and installs it as an ordinary app on newer phones. It runs only while you record or play recordings.

If you disable it

Nothing beyond the app. Your existing recordings stay in storage and play in other apps.

How to disable it

Settings offers Disable for this package on most phones. Open Settings > Apps > Voice Recorder > Disable.

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.sec.android.app.voicenote

adb shell pm enable com.sec.android.app.voicenote

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.sec.android.app.voicenote

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.sec.android.app.voicenote

Data and battery

Saves recordings on the phone; transcription and summaries may use Samsung's servers depending on the phone and settings.
