Samsung's calculator app with scientific functions and unit conversion. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.

What it does

Samsung Calculator is the calculator on Galaxy phones, with a scientific mode, calculation history and unit and currency conversion. Samsung publishes it on the Play Store and Galaxy Store and installs it as an ordinary app on newer phones. It runs only while open, apart from occasional currency rate updates.

Also shown as Samsung Calculator.

If you disable it

Nothing beyond the calculator itself.

How to disable it

Settings offers Disable for this package on most phones. Open Settings > Apps > Calculator > Disable.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.sec.android.app.popupcalculator

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.sec.android.app.popupcalculator

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.sec.android.app.popupcalculator

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.sec.android.app.popupcalculator

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery

Nothing beyond the app's own settings, apart from fetching currency rates when you use conversion.
