The background service that applies Galaxy Themes content, such as themes and icon packs, to the system. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.

What it does

Galaxy Themes Service takes the theme, icon pack or style you choose in Galaxy Themes and applies it across the system and Samsung apps. It starts with the phone and stays in the background to keep the applied theme in place. Samsung ships it on every Galaxy phone.

If you disable it

Applied themes and icon packs may revert to the default look, and new ones cannot be applied. Community reports say it can re-enable itself after being disabled on some versions.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.samsung.android.themecenter

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.samsung.android.themecenter

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.themecenter

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.samsung.android.themecenter

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery

Applies theme files stored on the phone; nothing beyond its own settings is sent.
