Samsung's Edge panels service, the swipe-in side panel of apps, contacts and tools on Galaxy phones. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.

What it does

This package runs the Edge panels feature: a handle on the side of the screen that you swipe to open panels of favorite apps, contacts, tools and the clipboard. You turn it on under Display settings. Device surveys show it as a separate package on Galaxy phones up to about Android 14; newer models handle the panel through other system components. It runs whenever the Edge panel handle is on.

Also shown as Edge screen.

If you disable it

The Edge panel handle and all its panels disappear on phones that use this package.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.samsung.android.app.cocktailbarservice

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.samsung.android.app.cocktailbarservice

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.app.cocktailbarservice

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.samsung.android.app.cocktailbarservice

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
