Bixby-based voice typing that the Samsung Keyboard microphone key used on many older Galaxy phones. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.

What it does

Samsung voice input is a voice-typing engine built on Bixby's speech recognition. On the phones that carry it, the microphone key on the Samsung Keyboard can send your speech to it and type the result into any text field. It runs only while you are dictating. Device surveys show it on Galaxy phones such as the S10, S20 FE, A52s and A53, and not on the newest S24 and S25 system images.

If you disable it

Samsung's own voice typing disappears; the keyboard's microphone key switches to Google voice typing if that is installed.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.samsung.android.svoiceime

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.samsung.android.svoiceime

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.svoiceime

Restore after an uninstall
