Gboard is Google's on-screen keyboard with glide typing, voice typing, emoji and GIF search, clipboard history and translation. It is the default keyboard on Pixels and on many phones from other makers, and it updates through the Play Store. It is active whenever a text field is open and learns the words you use to improve suggestions.
Also shown as Google Keyboard.
If it is your only keyboard you cannot type at all, which can lock you out of a phone protected by a password. Install another keyboard and switch to it before disabling Gboard.
Settings offers Disable for this package on most phones. Open Settings > Apps > See all apps > Gboard > Disable.
