Plays the short clip saved with a Motion photo when you view it in Gallery, on older Galaxy phones. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.
What it does
Motion photos save a few seconds of video from just before you press the shutter. This package played that clip when you opened such a photo, on older Galaxy phones; Samsung's application lists for Android 10 include it, and device surveys find it on models such as the Note9. Newer phones play Motion photos from Gallery itself.
If you disable it
The video part of Motion photos may not play on phones that use this package. The still image is unaffected.
How to disable it
On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.
Disable it (reversible)
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.samsung.android.motionphoto.viewerTurn it back on
adb shell pm enable com.samsung.android.motionphoto.viewerThe stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.
Uninstall for the main user
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.motionphoto.viewerRestore after an uninstall
