Camera
Samsung's Camera app on Galaxy phones, with photo, video, portrait, night and pro modes.
Samsung package
Samsung's photo and video gallery, which the Camera opens to review shots and edit them. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.
Gallery is the Samsung app for viewing, organizing and editing photos and videos on a Galaxy phone. The Camera's preview thumbnail opens it, it holds the photo editor and Galaxy AI editing tools, and it can sync albums with OneDrive or Samsung Cloud. It also runs a background service that sorts photos into stories and recognizes content. It is always present on Galaxy phones.
Also shown as Samsung Gallery.
Tapping the Camera's thumbnail no longer shows your last shot, and Samsung's photo editing, Motion photo playback and stories stop. Install another gallery such as Google Photos first.
On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.
Disable it (reversible)
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.sec.android.gallery3dTurn it back on
adb shell pm enable com.sec.android.gallery3dThe stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.
Uninstall for the main user
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.sec.android.gallery3dRestore after an uninstall
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.sec.android.gallery3dNew to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
Reads photos and videos on the phone; cloud sync, if on, uploads them to OneDrive or Samsung Cloud.
