Samsung's lock-screen wallpaper services, including Dynamic Lock screen, which rotates downloaded image packs. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.

What it does

Wallpaper services provides lock-screen wallpapers that change on their own, such as Dynamic Lock screen, which downloads themed image packs and shows a new picture each time you wake the phone. Samsung says the packs update every two weeks and can be limited to Wi-Fi. It runs when the lock screen appears and when it downloads new packs.

Also shown as Dynamic Lock screen.

If you disable it

Changing lock-screen wallpapers from Dynamic Lock screen or other wallpaper services stop; you keep whatever wallpaper you set yourself.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.samsung.android.dynamiclock

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.samsung.android.dynamiclock

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.dynamiclock

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.samsung.android.dynamiclock

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery
