Samsung package
The news feed panel to the left of the Galaxy home screen, earlier called Samsung Free, Samsung Daily and Bixby Home. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.
This package is the feed you see when you swipe right on the Galaxy home screen. Samsung has renamed it several times: Bixby Home, then Samsung Daily, then Samsung Free, and in its current Galaxy Store listing Samsung News, which shows headlines and stories from news partners. You can switch the panel off or replace it with Google Discover from the home-screen editing view. When it is on, it refreshes its feed over the network in the background.
Also shown as Samsung Free, Samsung Daily, Bixby Home.
The leftmost home-screen panel goes blank or falls back to Google Discover. Nothing else on the phone depends on it.
Settings offers Disable for this package on most phones. Open Settings > Apps > Samsung News > Disable.
Disable it (reversible)
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.samsung.android.app.spageTurn it back on
adb shell pm enable com.samsung.android.app.spageThe stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.
Uninstall for the main user
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.app.spageRestore after an uninstall
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.samsung.android.app.spageNew to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
Loads partner news content and records which stories you open; Samsung's privacy notice for the service covers that data.
Refreshes in the background. Turning the panel off in the home-screen editor stops that without disabling the package.
