Samsung's file-sharing feature for sending photos and files to nearby Galaxy devices, PCs and phones. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.

What it does

Quick Share is the sharing option in the Galaxy share menu and Quick settings. It sends files to nearby devices, to contacts, by QR code or link, and offers a private mode that blocks re-sharing. It needs Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on and a Samsung account for some modes. Samsung updates it through the Galaxy Store, and it runs when you share or when your phone is set to receive.

If you disable it

The Quick Share option disappears from the share menu and Quick settings, and you cannot receive files from nearby devices.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.samsung.android.app.sharelive

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.samsung.android.app.sharelive

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.app.sharelive

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.samsung.android.app.sharelive

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery

Sends files directly to nearby devices; link sharing uploads files to Samsung's servers for a limited time.
