Lets Gallery change the background blur and effect of Portrait and Live focus photos after you take them. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.

What it does

This package is the viewer and editor for photos taken in Portrait mode, called Live focus on older Galaxy phones. From Gallery you can open such a photo and change the strength and style of the background effect after the fact. Device surveys show it on current Galaxy models. It runs only when you edit a portrait photo.

Also shown as Live focus.

If you disable it

The option to change the background effect on portrait photos disappears from Gallery. The photos themselves are unaffected.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.samsung.android.app.dofviewer

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.samsung.android.app.dofviewer

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.app.dofviewer

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.samsung.android.app.dofviewer

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery

Works on photos stored on the phone; nothing is sent.
