An OPPO component that renders some smart cards and widgets on ColorOS and OxygenOS. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.

What it does

SmartEngine is a background component on ColorOS and OxygenOS with no screen of its own. Community testers report that some smart cards, the quick-glance cards in Shelf and on the home screen, fail to load without it, and that it otherwise runs on demand with no internet access of its own.

If you disable it

Some smart cards and widgets may stop loading. Regular widgets from other apps keep working.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.oplus.smartengine

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.oplus.smartengine

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.oplus.smartengine

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.oplus.smartengine

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery

Community analyses report it has no internet access of its own.
