Moto Secure, Motorola's hub for network protection, app permissions, a secret folder and scam protection. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.

What it does

Moto Secure gathers Motorola's security and privacy tools in one place: warnings about open or weak Wi-Fi and hotspots, a Wi-Fi blocklist for sensitive apps, permission controls, a secret folder and, on newer models, security scans and online scam protection. Motorola documents it as a preloaded app and in the Moto app. It runs in the background to watch network connections when protection is on.

If you disable it

Moto Secure's network warnings and scam protection stop, and its shortcuts go away. Android's own security settings and Google Play Protect keep working.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.motorola.securityhub

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.motorola.securityhub

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.motorola.securityhub

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.motorola.securityhub

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
