Motorola's hidden factory test menu for checking the screen, sensors, speakers and other hardware. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.

What it does

CQATest is Motorola's quality-assurance test tool, a hidden menu that runs hardware checks on the display, touch, cameras, speakers, sensors and radios. Technicians open it through a dialer code, and owners sometimes find its icon in the app drawer after an update. It runs only when opened.

If you disable it

The hidden hardware test menu goes away. Nothing you use day to day depends on it.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.motorola.motocit

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.motorola.motocit

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.motorola.motocit

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.motorola.motocit

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery
