An undocumented Motorola service in the same family as the updater and Motorola Notifications, tied to device check-in. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.

What it does

Device Management is a background Motorola service that ships on every recent Moto G and Edge model. It belongs to the same group of Motorola cloud packages as Motorola Software Update and Motorola Notifications, and community lists describe it as remote device management. Motorola has not documented what it does, and it is separate from any work profile your employer may install.

If you disable it

Community lists report nothing visible. Because it sits beside the updater, enable it again if system updates or Motorola services stop working.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.motorola.ccc.devicemanagement

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.motorola.ccc.devicemanagement

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.motorola.ccc.devicemanagement

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.motorola.ccc.devicemanagement

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
