A Samsung font support package from Monotype that underpins the font style options in Galaxy display settings. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.

What it does

This package from the font company Monotype is part of Samsung's font style system, which lets you switch the system font in display settings and install extra fonts from the Galaxy Store. It contains font support files rather than an app. Samsung's application lists include it, and device surveys show it on every Galaxy profile.

If you disable it

Custom font styles may stop applying and fall back to the default font. Text still displays normally.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.monotype.android.font.foundation

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.monotype.android.font.foundation

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.monotype.android.font.foundation

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.monotype.android.font.foundation

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery
