The Pixel service behind Adaptive connectivity, which switches between 5G and 4G to save battery. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.
Adaptive Connectivity Services is the Pixel system package that community analysis links to the Adaptive connectivity setting on Pixel 4a (5G) and later. With the setting on, the phone uses 5G only when an app needs the extra speed, such as for streaming or large downloads, and stays on 4G LTE otherwise to save battery. Some US carriers limit the feature, and you can switch it off under Network & internet in Settings.
Automatic switching between 5G and 4G stops, so the phone may stay on 5G more and use more battery. Turning the setting off in Settings changes the same behavior without disabling anything.
On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.
Disable it (reversible)
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.google.android.apps.sconeTurn it back on
adb shell pm enable com.google.android.apps.sconeThe stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.
Uninstall for the main user
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.google.android.apps.sconeRestore after an uninstall
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.google.android.apps.sconeNew to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
